The Cotton Country  Cutting  Club    would    like    to    formerly    announce    that    the    Goondiwindi    Futurity    will  not  run  in 2012. 

At  a    recent    meeting    of    the    club    an    overwhelming    vote    by    members    resulted    in    this  decision.    There    are    a  number    of    reasons    that    contributed    to    this    decision    and    this  outcome    was    not    made    lightly    or    without    serious    discussion.        

Our  members    have    worked    hard    over    many    years    to    put    on    great    events    due    to    a    collective    dedication   to   the    sport     of   Cutting.       Our    members    are    responsible    for    making    informed    decisions    in    the    best    interests    of    the    club    to    ensure    its longevity   and   stability.    

The   Cotton    Country   Cutting   Club   will    still    be    holding    great  events,   and   our    first  show  for    2012    will    be    our    improved    Mothers    Day    weekend    show,    which    is    now    a    Championship    show    with    a    great    added    prize    purse    and    a    new    Gelding    Incentive.              

 As    a    club    we    will    continue    to    do    our    best    to    give    back    to    the    industry    by   holding    well-­run    shows    and    always    doing    our    best    to    cater    for    the    competitors,    owners  and  spectators    at    our    events.    

We  know    the    Goondiwindi    Futurity    will    be    sadly    missed.        We    are    proud    of    our   wonderful    history    and  what    was    achieved    by    a    small    number    of    volunteers    that  have     run  a    national    event    in    a    small    rural    town.    

As  a    club    that    has    run    highly    regarded    Aged-­Event’s    our    members    understand    the    importance    of    Aged    Events    to    the    industry    and    look    forward    to    the    future    for    our    sport.          As    a    member    of    the    club,    I    personally    look    forward    to    witnessing    an    ongoing    industry  commitment    to    support    and    nurture    Affiliates    that    host    Aged    Events.

This annual event has been running since the early 1990’s and last year attracted more than 500 competitors and guests from all over the NT and some even coming from QLD, SA & WA. 2011 Entries included approximately 810 cattle runs, 30 challenge runs, 25 rodeo runs. With all the kids enjoying a jammed packed morning of riding in the Gymkhana on the Sunday
